I just wanted to tell you about a product that’s been in my drawer for a while… Having its occasional appearance on my lips, once every month or so… I didn’t even buy it myself, nor did I choose its color – it was a Dior lip pencil I got in one of those promotional makeup bags you get – after taking a loan from your bank to pay for the loot (yes, I know you do it too…).
Anyway, as I said, I never really liked it.
Now, a short description of the product:
It’s quite a waxy lip liner, goes on matt in texture, and lasts for hours. Exterior is made of plastic, which you DO need to sharpen using a sharpener, as you do with traditional pencils.
The shade is – 223 BEIGE LUMIÈRE/SPARKLING BEIGE
A mauve pink, with quite a bit of metallic shimmer. A little silvery in tone.
Sounds weird right? Not very popular, and a little too 90’s.
True. But let me tell you, they were on to something. On the one hand, it’s very natural in color, ‘your lips but better’ type of hue. On the other hand, it has this instant lighting effect that illuminates the face with virtually no effort at all.
For those of you who are making faces to the sound of ‘metallic’ and ‘lipstick’ in the same sentence, I have 2 things to say:
1. As with almost every Dior product, the effect is very subdued and minimal, so it looks a little like youv’e highlighted the cupid’s bow, or the center of the lips… Nothing too Disco-Ball’ish.
2. I’ll have you know metallic lips are making a comeback, as part of a general Mettalic-Foil-Wet trend in the beauty and fashion world. Did anyone say Too Faced Melted Metal Metallic Lipstick by any chance? ?
This basically means, that if you go the metallic way, you are not necessarily going to look outdated. Just keep it on the low for now. Don;t go crazy. Or do 😉
To go back to where I started, if you are looking to freshen up your summer beauty menu, do something different, all while keeping it simple – go and search for that Dior lip liner, or any lip product that gives the same effect. You wont’t have to spend a lot of money; OR time in the morning to be “eNliGhTeNed”. Perfect!
